by It’s shorts season. And we all know no one does a good shorts look like Mary J. Blige. The 52-year-old hip hop legend just dropped a photo of herself on Instagram crushing a stunning outfit like it was nothing.
The photo is simple: In it, Mary is rocking a matching bright blue Gucci crop top and zip-up shorts, looking super toned. She paired the look with strong legs, jacked abs, and a cool-girl smile.
“I’m being hated by the seasons so F* y’all who hating for no reason- Lil Wayne,” she wrote in the caption. Naturally, people freaked in the comments. “Okay sis code Blue 🔥,” one wrote. “I needa look like this in my 50s,” another chimed. Even Busta Rhymes had to say something: “🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥”

Of course, this is hardly Mary’s only next-level shorts look lately. There was this one:
Mary previously told Health magazine that she’s not the biggest fan of exercising, but she still puts in the work. “I don’t like it, but I have to do it. I like to look a certain way,” she said. “So I have to do what I have to do.” Mary said she does a lot of strength training and “heavy lifting.” She added, “It keeps everything firm.”
Mary told Self in 2019 that she works with a trainer four times a week, noting that they cycle through focusing on different body parts. “Sometimes I’ll tell them, okay well let’s concentrate on the legs, well let’s concentrate on the arms, or let’s go hard on the abs,” she said. “So, it’s whatever I choose, whatever body parts I want it to be.”
When she’s not working with a trainer, Mary said she does cardio. “You have to train like an athlete. This is the game,” she said.
Food-wise, Mary shared with Health that she eats a lot of protein, and she makes sure there’s plenty of green in her diet. “I drink a green juice every day,” she said. “I’ve been a vegetable eater since I was a kid.”
